2008 or 2025 civics test: which one is yours?

USCIS: "Aliens who file Form N-400 to apply for naturalization before Oct. 20, 2025, will take the 2008 naturalization civics test. Aliens who file Form N-400 to apply for naturalization on or after Oct. 20, 2025, will take the 2025 naturalization civics test."

What is different

The 2025 list has 128 questions instead of 100, and the officer can ask up to 20 instead of up to 10. USCIS says the 2025 test "is based on the 2020 test, with some modifications to the administration of the test." Many questions are close to the 2008 ones but worded differently, and some answers changed, so study the list for your test.

Both tests have 20 questions for the 65/20 special consideration (see them), and both have answers that change with elections (see the current ones).
